Odds makers favor rider for his seventh straight Tour de France victory
5/31/2005 12:21:31 PM
NEW YORK, NY, May 31, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Sportsbook.com has posted odds on the 2005 Tour de France, calling Lance Armstrong a 5-6 favorite to make history with a seventh consecutive Tour win. Odds on Armstrong failing to win are 10-11.
"The expectations for Lance Armstrong to win the Tour de France have mounted even more since he announced it will be his final race", said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. "He's getting older and the competition is catching up, so it will likely be the most difficult Tour de France he's raced. That's going to make betting very interesting."
Armstrong placed fifth in his final Tour de Georgia in April, finishing one minute and 41 seconds behind his teammate Tom Danielson. Armstrong did not compete with his Discovery Channel teammates in the Giro D'italia this month.
