Carrie Underwood is odds makers favorite for American Idol

But it's still anyone's title for the taking says Sportsbook.com

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 13, 2005 -- Sportsbook.com has listed Carrie Underwood a 5-7 favorite to become the fourth American Idol on May 24. The singer, with country roots, is favored ahead of rocker Bo Bice who is listed at 3-2 and the soulful Vonzell Solomon at 11-2.

None of the show's three judges seemed overly impressed with any of the performers in the last elimination round, and they will all need to step up to the plate if they want to become the next American Idol. But fan sentiment still seems to be with Carrie Underwood for the time being.

"This year's American Idol is so interesting because the three finalists are so diverse in terms of their styles. It's difficult to tell how the fans will vote and that makes it hard to create the odds," said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. "More so than any other year, I think the final two shows will really make the difference. Carrie is still our favorite but she's certainly not a lock to win, especially if she has a bad performance."
