Goodwin Motorsports Has A Good Outloook For 2008
There’s more to auto racing than just NASCAR, and as NASCAR fans begin to unwind for the off-season, other leagues are just beginning to make preparations for the 2008 racing season. One such racing organization is Goodwin Motorsports of Channahon, Illinois. Goodwin Motorsports appears to have a very optimistic outlook on the 2008 auto racing season, and from what we can see, they have good reason to be.
2008 will bring Goodwin Motorsports into a new racing series that they have never before taken part in – the ASA Late Model Series (ASALMS). The Goodwin team announced on Monday that they will be entering two drivers into the Late Model Series for the 2008 racing season. Goodwin is hinging it’s hopes on Jerry Einhaus, Jr., of Seneca, Illinois, and 2007 Rookie of the Year Contender, Dave Gentile, Jr.
Jerry Einhaus, Jr., who is going into his rookie year at the ASA Late Model Series, is starting the year off with an impressive record. In his 13 years as a professional race car driver, Einhaus has won more than 25 feature races, along with multiple championship titles. The Championships won by Einhaus include the highly coveted Mid-American Division title at Grundy County Speedway, which he won in 1998, 2003 and 2005.
During his racing career, Einhaus has raced at a number of tracks that are part of his new division. He has particular experience at two of ASALMS’ favorite tracks: the Rockford Speedway (Rockford, Illinois) and the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway (LaCrosse, Wisconsin).
"I can’t wait to be a part of a traveling team next year! I have done some traveling in the past, but not an entire series," Einhaus Jr. was quoted as saying in Monday’s press release.
Goodwin Motorsports is teaming Einhaus Jr. up with Dave Gentile, Jr. for the 2008 racing season. Gentile is looking to make up for a devastating crunch that was felt during the 2007 racing season. Gentile Jr. started out the 2007 racing year as the odds on favorite to win Rookie of the year. However, a strong start to the season ultimately ended up with Gentile placing no better than 15th place during the last six races of the season, allowing the Rookie of the Year award to slip out of his grasp. However, Gentile has put the past behind him, and is looking forward to winning a number of ASALMS races in 2008.
"This past season was difficult for me. I had some goals set for myself. I was able to achieve a few, including our great Second place finish at I-70, but I wasn’t able to meet all of my goals." Gentile was quoted as saying.
Goodwin Motorsports feels that it has a good team assembled and sees a bright future ahead of both drivers. With the new year just around the corner, it’s clear that all of those involved with Team Goodwin are looking forward to 2008 with excited anticipation.
